Vijay Mallya bribed IDBI Bank's top management to get loan of Rs 950 crore from the bank which were later used for Kingfisher airlines are a major lead in investigation of this scam, On the other hand it is being said that Vijay has left the country as well.
CBI is suspecting that beleaguered businessman Vijay Mallya may have bribed IDBI’s senior officials to secure a loan of Rs 950 crore. CBI has documents in its possession that revealed the information.
CBI documents suggest that during probe they found that around Rs 16 crore were not accounted for any expenditure, The CBI wondered whether the money was used as bribe to pay off senior officials to secure the loan.
The Investigation Agency has grilled a lot of senior officials of IDBI and many more are being called for questioning, the possessioned document has further revealed that in 2009, Mallya’s loan file was stuck in IDBI bank due to bad past credit image and overtrading issues
However, a short-term loan of Rs 150 crore was released after his Chief Financial Officer A Raghunathan mentioned about a meeting between Mallaya and Bank CMD Yogesh Aggrawal to Bank’s Executive Director BK Batra but soon the whole loan was issued, CBI is to check the role of various other departments and officers in this context including audit and accounts
CBI will also probe Axis Bank officers as through its account a large chunk of money was sent abroad in the name of aircraft purchase. The CBI will also probe how the loan was used
